Being a complete shopaholic and someone who is obsessed with designer clothes, I realised one day how many dresses I had hanging in my wardrobe that I had only ever worn once, or worse still, never! I’ve found that most women, like myself, spend a fortune on dresses for nights out and those special occasions. As soon as the dress we once ‘loved’ has been worn and people have seen it, the novelty immediately wears off. We no longer feel excited when we see it hanging there. No, we just look straight past it for our latest new purchase. I always notice dresses I love on celebrities and I’ve always been so disappointed when I realise a Herve Leger dress seen on Cheryl Cole is going to set me back hundreds of pounds. Yes, you can buy much cheaper copies, but wouldn’t it be nice to have the actual real thing?
After searching for someone who would rent me my favourite designer celebrity dress and not having much luck, I wondered if I should do this myself. This is where My Celebrity Dress came from. During these tough economic times, why spend hundereds of pounds to buy a gorgeous dress and only wear it once or twice at the most? You only feel guilty every time you see it and decide yet again, to wear something else. We may be going through a credit crunch but instead of giving up your designer labels entirely, why not rent the dress and save a fortune? Spending £400 on one dress seems ridiculous when you can rent four or five completely different dresses!
So, I’ve done all the hard work and set it up, all you have to do is decide whether you’re going to be renting your favourite Herve Leger, Preen, Sass and Bide or Alice & Olivia to name a few. The only problem is convincing your friends that you haven’t actually won the lottery…
